Jean De Florette

The city intellectual Jean (Gérard Depardieu) has inherited a piece of Provençal land from his mother Florette and soon returns to his "motherland" to start a fresh farming life with his wife and daughter. However, the ever-helpful, simpleminded neighbor Ugolin (Daniel Auteuil) and his scheming uncle Papet (Yves Montand) turn out to covet all along his land and its precious liquid gold - the spring water of the hills.
